Transmigrating with a Cleaver ch 15.2 - The Giant Zombie

Lancelot couldn’t care about his appearance anymore. He dropped and rolled away on the ground and narrowly avoided the tragedy. Yet the knight next to him wasn’t as lucky….

Another shrill from being eaten alive echoed in the cave. The mercenaries were mortified and all started running toward the entrance of the secret passageway.

The short thief quickly helped Lancelot up and the long hair guy fire a shot and an arrow wrapped with lightning aimed at the giant zombie’s eye with great speed.

The giant zombie didn’t even try to get out of it’s way. A crisp clank and the arrow bounced off of it directly, leaving just a little bit of blue electric current on the eye….

“Retreat! Retreat!” Lancelot felt hopeless. If the arrow made from Xie Zhi’s horn were not able to do any damage to the giant zombie, his team did not stand a chance.

 “The military did not mention anything about a giant zombie. What have they been doing?” shouted Lancelot in his head.

Honestly it wasn’t the military’s fault. Their initial troop of 1,000 soldiers had already lost half of their men and retreated way before the giant zombie showed up.

The giant zombie locked onto the long hair man as his next target. His giant palm reached toward him with a swirl of wind. Long hair man remained well composed. With an elegant side leap he avoided the giant arm and than drew another arrow with ease!

Watching from afar, Qin Luo let out a sound of admiration only to see the long hair man grabbed by another hand from no where and tossed the red and bloody mouth along with his bow.

During this time, all of the mercenaries had already ran outside the reach of the giant zombie. The giant zombie let out a serious of angry roars and pulled its body over the city walk to go after them.

As it turned out, the giant zombie only had the upper half of it’s body. Even without it’s feet, each time its arms push it advanced some 10 or so meters. Much faster than the mercenaries running away awkwardly.

But before it was able to crawl a few meters, a fuzzy furball bit it on its waist!

It was only after seeing the giant zombie let out a loud screech when Qin Luo remembered he had forgotten to take the little orange cat back…

It was very unfortunate that the giant zombie was not instakilled by little orange cat. Groaning loudly, it reached out its giant hand and smacked on it’s own waist.

Little orange cat avoided the smack with ease and bit the giant hand instead. The giant zombie let out another loud screech.

Now he had heard the latest news about Cheng Biyuan, it’d be lying to say he wasn’t surprised. He would never in a million years have guessed that that useless son-in-law would turn out to be a beast tamer. He was certainly shocked by that.

Even though he didn’t have high hopes for this son-in-law, he did recognize his unusual talent. If it wasn’t for that one accident, he certainly would have accepted him as his son-in-law. After all, the happiness of his daughter was important to him.

He never would have thought that even after he had turned completely useless, his precious daughter still wouldn’t give him up. He was angry and resentful. He felt that it was Cheng Biyuan who ruined his daughter’s life. In a fit of rage, he had announced that he’d never let him step foot in his house.

That was equivalent to announcing that he’d never admit that he was his son-in-law!

The recent development had left him feeling a lot of mixed emotions. He wasn’t sure how he should feel or what he could say.

“Old man, I don’t care what you think. My daughter will always be my daughter. And I don’t care how powerful our son-in-law is, as long as he’ll cherish my daughter and willing to spend the rest of his life with her, I will be okay with that. You figure out the rest!”

The old madam usually treat her husband with utmost respect. She’d never object to any of his decisions. Even when he exiled their daughter, all she did was hid in the room and cried, and gave him cold shoulder for over a year.

There was nothing she could do about it. She had also complained about how useless her son-in-law was in the past. But she had missed her daughter more and more as days and years went by. Every time she thought about her smart and lovable daughter, she’d break into tears all over again!

That was precisely the reason why he remained silent every time he saw that his wife was missing their daughter. Even if he won’t accept that son-in-law, he still want his daughter back.

Now, his son had risen again. Not only did he became a prestige beast tamer, even the two grandsons whom he had never seen before, were also beast tamers. It’d be lying to say that he wasn’t happy about it.

And that was why, after hearing his wife’s words, he didn’t jump up and started shouting, but remained silent instead.

“You, say something. I am telling you. I want to see my Qin’er. I want to see my Qin’er’s kids, my grandsons and granddaughters. Do you hear me?” Old madam wiped away her tears and tucked on her husband’s elbow and shouted.

“Okay, get a grip!” Luo Zhengde was both angry and helpless. Looking into his wife’s hopeful eyes, he grudgingly said, “Yeah, well, Cheng Biyuan’s status was no longer the same as before. Would he even let you see them?”

“Yes, of course! As long as you tell Qin’er, Qin’er will come to see me. Old man, don’t you miss Qin’er? It’s been over ten years, you still want to hold out for that worthless face and never let me see Qin’er again till the day I die? Let me tell you, you damn old man. I don’t care what you say, I will go look for Qin’er myself if I have to!”

“You! Now you are just being silly!” This was the first time he saw his always tender and genuine wife becoming completely unreasonable. Luo Zhengde was angry and humored at the same time, “Hrm. As I have said before, I will not let Cheng Biyuan step foot into our house!”

It wasn’t just his wife. When he first heard the news, he was shocked speechless as well. If it wasn’t proven by all these prestige families, he would never believe all these were true!

He knew full well Cheng Biyuan and his family’s situation. If he didn’t have this ability before, where did all these came from all of a sudden?

“Ye, do you think uncle Cheng will recognize the marriage arrangement between Jun’er and Xiao Xiao?”

“Ugh…” Gu Gaoyi lifted his brows, surprised by his wife’s question.

Qin Luo was adamant that he would not be pulling out any brain cores of the zombies. Chen Yun had no choice but to take on that tasks, and You guarded nearby.

Qin Luo aimed at a far away zombie and suddenly the little orange cat by his feet mewed and scratched his pant legs.

“What’s the matter?” Qin Luo looked down at the ball of fur, “You want to kill some zombies too?”

The little orange cat seemed to have understood him and nodded.

Mrs. Gu’s face dropped immediately and her pitch raised, “I have said it in the past. I don’t care how close you are with him, I am never going to let our Jun’er (Gu Junxian, their eldest son) marry a girl who had been banished by her family. Gu Gaoyi, don’t you ever forget that. You are the oldest in the family, and our Jun’er is the oldest grandson. He will become head of family at some point. How is he going to face the world if he were to take a village girl as his wife? He would never heard the end of it just from your side of the family! I disagree. I vehemently disagree. You need to send someone over to Cheng Biyuan soon and nullify this marriage arrangement.”

She rambled on and on, and leaving Gu Gaoyi rubbing his temple with a headache. In a not-so-happy manner, he said, “Look at you going on and on about it. I wasn’t going to talk to you about Jun’er’s marriage. This is something else!”

That’s whether it’s worthwhile for the Cheng’s to try to coax Cheng Biyuan into returning!

Everybody understood the reasoning behind it.

After his words, nobody uttered anything. Everybody had silently agreed with him!

The two with the highest seniority still hadn’t said anything and nobody could tell what were their thoughts.

“That’s what you meant by blowing their heads off?” asked Chen Yun unhappily.

Rumbling sound came from beneath the old church. Lancelot arrived at the entrance of the secret passage right when the first zombie dashed out of the tunnel. It lunged at him with it’s fanged teeth.

The zombie’s size was much bigger than that of a regular human being; it’s entire body was blood red and hairless. The foul smell coming from it’s mouth made one want to throw up. It’s big buggy eyes have no eyelids over it. The entire zombie looked like a skinned frog.

Lancelot lowered his face shield and swung his sword at the zombie,  slashing it directly into two halves.

Second elder faked a few coughs. Once he got everyone’s attention, he said, “If the mystical well is real, then, Biyuan and is two sons are all beast tamers? If they are real beast tamers, how come they never let that showed before?”

His words were superfluous, that was the same question that everybody had in mind. Of course, that was precise reason why they were sitting there. They all wanted to know whether Cheng Biyuan and his two sons were really beast tamers.

Everybody there were very familiar with Cheng Biyuan’s life story. They knew full well how he had been wronged and the kind of humiliation that he had gone through. So, if he truly was a beast tamer, why did he have to endure all those?

“That’s right, have them go home at night. Less hassle for us!” Mrs. Cheng was about to raise both her hands and feet in agreement.

Cheng Biyuan’s mouth moved but he dared not rebut her. Cheng Xiao Xiao just found the whole thing funny, “Mom, that’s not possible. This is only temporary. We are going to need more and more help as time go on. We can’t do everything ourselves, nor will we be able to do it.”

“Hmm, I guess that is true!” Mrs. Cheng understood that a large family employs many servants and guards; every one of them help out with chores around the house. There no other way a large family can function.

“Dad, one step at a time!” smiled Cheng Xiao Xiao, she looked around the courtyard and said, “We should upgrade our house if dad is going to have disciples. We can’t keep living in this hut, it’s getting a little bit embarrassing.”

“What’s so embarrassing about it? Nonsense!” smiled Cheng Biyuan. Taking a look at his own house, he sighed, “Yeah, this house is a bit crude. Sorry to have you guys put up with it for so long.”

“Ye, it’s all in the past. All we need is to re-build another house, then we can live in a nice place!” smiled Mrs. Cheng tenderly.

His teammates were laughing as well. Only the white mage remained quietly standing.

“It’s one white mage and two swordsman!” said Qin Luo with a smile of disdain. “Oh, so you think your big lump o’ steel team is all that? All I saw were a few giant trash cans!”

“What are ‘trash cans’?” Lancelot was a bit baffled but judging by Qin Luo’s look, he could infer that it wasn’t exactly a compliment.

It was almost time, so Lancelot didn’t have time to continue bickering with Qin Luo. He snickered at him and said, “If that’s the case, you want to bet?”

In truth there were quite a few other teams of mercenaries amidst them that were led by the children of other lords, but the rest were more low-key; unlike Lancelot who seemed to want the entire world to notice him.

Qin Luo had no respect for him.

Lancelot was quite happy right now. Even though he had been enraged by an idiot at the mercenary guildhall earlier, a white mage had finally joined his troop and that made him feel better.

“All our young ones here are kind of rough, but they have a lot of respect for the Cheng brothers. They will be able to learn and grow so much with them and we will have to worry less. We agree to have them practice martial arts!”

“I agree, all our kids are unruly. So hard to keep them in line. It will benefit them greatly to learn under Mr. Cheng!”

If the Cheng’s mystical spring had caught the public’s attention, then the fact that there were three beast tamers at the Cheng’s were definitely like a bolt from the blue.

Rather, everybody was very familiar with Cheng Biyuan. After all, his life had been so full of drama, who could ever forget that? And now that news about him have spread, it was no surprised that everybody was shocked out of their seats.

Of course, the one who was shocked out of his seat was the master of the Cheng’s at Emperor City. The first thing he did after he recovered from the shock was to strike his favorite Cheng Bihua across his face so hard that he head turned the size of a pig’s head.

The rainbow went faster and faster. The little, red cat started illuminating rainbow colors as the rainbow became lighter and lighter in color until it finally disappeared altogether.

Qin Luo was closed to tears, “I thought you said it’s only for mystical beasts…”

“Oh, I think I left my stove on at home. Gotta run!!” The young man turned pale and started dashing away. He quickly disappeared around the corner of the street , “SEEEE~YOOOUU~LAATER~~”

“Oh damn, he just ran straight away now that he has 2x speed?” said Qin Luo as he stomped his feet in annoyance. “Don’t ever let me see you again!”

When the little orange cat landed on it’s feet again, it ran straight toward Qin Luo. It’s simple and straightforward look was quite cute. Qin Luo scooped him up, and the kitty was already licking him with its soft, pink tongue.

“Don’t, don’t, don’t. That tickles! Hang on! Are you hungry, little thing? Oh yeah, you are a cat and not a dog, oh good, oh good….”

11:30 PM, a lot of mercenaries had already gathered outside of the old church in the 13^th district. They were not far from the start time of the mission.

The military had set up a very strong line of defense outside the church, led by a captain with his 300 or so men.

When Qin Luo, carrying the little orange kitty with him, arrived with Chen Yun, they could spot Lancelot from far, far away.

Well, they didn’t exactly look for him on purpose, but he was wearing a golden armor that looked like 1,000 watt light bulbs in the middle of the night, and the extra bright LED ones to top. It was impossible not to spot him!

All Qin Luo could see was $$$ in front of his eyes. “Dang! That fool’s armor looks like it’s worth a lot of money, maybe I will be able to find an opportunity to pry a piece of it off to trade in for money… maybe his entire team will be annihilated… all their gears look fancy!”

Standing nearby Lancelot was six of his teammates. One of them was the short man they’ve met in the morning. Three of them were big, stocky men, plus a long-hair man with a longbow on his back, and a woman in a white robe.

The short man was cloaked in an all-black outfit, with two daggers adorned by jewels. The three stocky men have on their backs overly huge swords, all of them in uniformly grey armor. They weren’t as showy as Lancelot’s, but one could still tell they weren’t of low-quality.

Only those in the knows would know that the long-hair guy’s dark-grey long bow was no less valuable than Lancelot’s armor. The plain-looking bow was made out of the single horn of a Xie Zhi, a high level mystical beast. Rumor had it that one could add lightning ability to it, making it priceless.

The woman in the white robe seemed very cold. She had in her hand a silver staff and a very intricate, four-winged angel badge on top of her prominent bosom, a tell-tale sign that she was a high-level white mage!

Inside the small yard, the young man, who still have on his bamboo hat, sat in front of the table along with Chen Yun eating their hearts out.

Qin Luo, on the other hand, stood to one side as he held in his arms a German-made Mauser rifle, dumbfounded.

How was he able to actually produce a 98K?

Who the heck was he?

And why didn’t I ask for a AWM or a Barrett, was I stupid?

“Oh wait!!” Qin Luo suddenly came to and shouted loudly, “Save me some!”

He turned around, just in time to see the young man holding the tub with both hands while licking it sparkling clean…

“That was so delicious, just a bit light on the quantity!” said the man as he put the tub down, seemingly still not entirely satisfied, “I apologize, I ate too fast. It seemed I was eating twice as fast as I normally do…”

Chen Yun, also embarrassed, said, “Yeah, I also felt that I was eating faster than usual….”

Qin Luo’s face darkened, this heng gone fish was way too powerful. These two had polished off the entire tub of fish within a matter of minutes!

If there weren’t anyone around, Qin Luo strongly believe that this self-proclaimed mysterious merchant would have swallowed the tub as well…

And he had planned on saving some fish for tonight… now even the soup was all gone!

Standing next to the young man, Qin Luo looked at him with the saddest eyes, like a much-abused daughter-in-law.

His look made the young man feel very uneasy, so he laughed, “Alright, how about I give you something additional?”

“Well, you said it! I didn’t force you!”

“No force, no force!” Smiling, the young man produced a small, round, red ball.

Qin Luo examined the little ball on his palm and asked, “What is this?”

“Mystical pet ball. You see that red button on top of it?”

Qin Luo nodded. There was, indeed, a button on top of it.

“You press the button and throw it at any mystical beast, and it will turn it into your pet and never, ever leave your side!”

“That amazing?” Qin Luo was a bit skeptical. Any mystical beasts? That meant he would be able to convert dragons and phoenixes into his pets?

“Of course! I already told you I am the most powerful merchant in the Gan Yuan world!” said the young man full of self-confidence. “You can always try it out if you don’t believe me.”

“Oh, I am trying!” said Qin Luo as he depressed the button and throw it over the wall, “Like this, right? Do I need to shout out any command verbally as well?”

“Meow~!” suddenly a pitiful cat meowing sound came from the other side of the wall!

Both of their faces turned dark, “Oh crap!”

They ran outside the yard, just in time to see a small, orange cat floating in midair waving its paws frantically. The mystical pet ball turned into a rainbow and circled the cat with great speed.

Little Yuteng saw through her, unhappily she said with a pout, “Young mistress, don’t you be thinking that just because you won’t kill them they’d offer you the same courtesy. These are all bandits and outlaws. If snakies didn’t kill them, there’d be nobody alive in Willow Village right now. And not just the Willow Villagers, your family as well.”

“……”

Cheng Xiao Xiao didn’t say anything. She knew that little Yuteng was telling the truth. That, however, didn’t make her feel any better. She had, indeed, heard her younger brother reported that the snakies had killed several dozens of people, but she was too distracted at the time and didn’t think much of it. Now that she had the time to reflect, she was starting to feel awful about it.

Six months ago, Cheng Bihua sent his men again and Cheng Biyuan was injured in the battle. Cheng Xiao Xiao gave everything she got and dashed out in an attempt to save her father. Finally both of them were injured.

Luckily the Willow villagers came to help just in time. Cheng Bihua, who were trying to cull the entire family, had no choice but to retreat with his men.

The outcome of all these was Cheng Xiao Xiao losing all her memories when she’d regained consciousness and all of Cheng Biyuan’s bones were broken. Luckily the new Cheng Xiao Xiao was able to cure him and he was able to stand on his own feet again.

After Cheng Zheng Yuan finished recounting the events, Cheng Xiao Xiao couldn’t believe the absurdity of it all. Surely she had seen all of these from TV programs in her previous life, but never had she thought they could truly happen.

Now, it was all confirmed. Of course, the most lasting part of all the events were the despicable beast who tried to molest his own 10-year-old niece. He is going to die!

Cheng Xiao Xiao squinted her eyes and a coldness flashed through them. He will receive special treatment in the future.

“Big, big sister…” Cheng Zheng Yuan felt a shiver down his spine. The look on his older sister was simply too scary, like she was about to bite someone’s head off.

Returning to her senses, Cheng Xiao Xiao looked at her uneasy-looking brother, raised her brows and asked, “What’s the matter?”

“Big sister, where’s Yuteng that you’ve always talked about?” Cheng Zheng Yuan clamed himself and asked with anticipation.

“Oh, Yuteng, she’s the jade vine fairy!”

Cheng Xiao Xiao replied casually and also summoned Yuteng to come greet the guest. Yuteng shouted in discontent after she flashed out from the dimension, “Young mistress, young master don’t know anything about anything, what do you want me to talk to him about?!”

“So you are the jade vine fairy?” Cheng Zheng Yuan’s eyes sparkled like stars in a dark night as he looked at the cute creature in front of him.

Little Yuteng pouted unhappily, then with a wave of her tiny hand, she tossed a snow ginseng that was over 1,000 year old into his arms and said, “Go cultivate. You are just a martial scholar. Your opponents can squash you with one hand!”

“Ugh…” Cheng Zheng Yuan didn’t know how to respond to the arrogant fairy in front of him. But with the giant snow ginseng in his arms, he gave a huge smile and immediately sat crossed legs on the ground.

Cheng Xiao Xiao nodded satisfyingly when she saw that her brother had immediately focused on cultivating. Soon afterward, she flashed into the dimension.

“Young mistress, I didn’t have enough fun today. Master had all the fun, how disappointing!” pouted and complained the little Yuteng as she sat on the crystal fruit tree.

Cheng Xiao Xiao slowly strode over and ignored her complaints. She leaned against the tree and closed her eyes before she spoke, “What you worried about? More people will come for you to play. How were those that you’ve tossed out?”

“Young mistress, you are too soft. How could you let those jerks live? You know they will for sure come back to cause more trouble. If it was up to me, I’d have fed them straight to the snakies!”

What nobody had expected was Cheng Biyuan falling in love with the 12-year-old Luo Yuqin, the single child of the Luo’s, the pearl of Master Luo. Their love affair was not blessed by either of the families, as Master Luo, much like the Cheng’s, also wanted his daughter to marry into the four top powers. The masters of the two families had the same ideas, so both of them tried to nip this blossoming romance in the bud.

A year later, the accident happened. Cheng Biyuan was injured by an unknown culprit. Not only was he having a difficult time recovering from his injuries, his cultivation also started to decline. The Cheng’s eventually gave up on him as he could no longer retain his cultivation.

Going from a pampered genius to a useless failure, being given up by even the elders of the Cheng’s, let alone all the back-stabbers, the devastation from the drastic change in the way he was being treated nearly crushed him.

Luckily Luo Yuqin sneaked out from her house and found Cheng Biyuan. The two were sad and happy at the same time when they reunited. Fearing their families would find out, they’ve decided to flee.

Once their escape was discovered, a war broke out between the Cheng’s and the Luo’s; many were killed or injured. Both families hated Cheng Biyuan to his guts and a bounty was put out on him.

After the preparation of the Phoenix grass was completed, the red oil inside the pot was also boiling. Qin Luo placed the now marinated filets into the pot. Once the filets started to curl a little, he poured them back into the tub.

He sprinkled the Phoenix grass above the filets in the tub and brought the remaining oil to a boil before pouring them over the filets.

Along with the sizzling sound, a small smoke rose above the tub and the aroma of fresh, tasty fish along with the hot spices filled the small yard!

When Chen Yun saw the pink, steaming filets floating in the red, hot oil, her stomach couldn’t wait any longer. She immediately reached out, grabbed a piece of the filet, and tossed it into her mouth, only to be burned till tears rolled down her face.

“Spicy poached heng gong fish completed. Color: 4.3 points. Aroma: 4.5 points. Taste: 4.5 points. Inspiration: 3 points. Style: 3.5 points. Total: 19.8 points. Rating: Exceptional!”

“Experience gained: 258 points (Exceptional bonus: 30%). Current experience level: 335/500.”

“Only 100 some odd more experience points to leveling up!” Qin Luo was very pleased with the outcome of his dish.

He suddenly thought of something; if he cooked the fish separately, he would be able to gain the experience points twice!

“I must try that next time, this mystical beast’s meat aren’t cheap…”

Seeing the beauty next to him was already sweaty from eating his dish and thoroughly enjoying it, Qin Luo quickly picked up his chopsticks to join her. Right when he was about to pick up a piece of filet, there came a loud knocking noise!

“Who is it?” asked Qin Luo.

The person outside replied leisurely, “Someone brought to you by fate.”

Congratulations for making through Vol I of QQ Farm with me! :) I posted the first chapter of QQ Farm on 10/24/2018, so this took us almost 7 months to get here. Wow!

Why did a webnovel has volumes? The best I could figure out was that the author went behind paid wall starting chapter 68 (what a random number). And because of that, her word count per chapter shot up to 4x - 10x that of her old chapters, with an average of 7x in length of her previous chapters.  I could, unfortunately, neither increase my translation speed 7 folds nor dedicate that kind of time daily to match that kind of increase in length. As such, here are some of the changes that you will be seeing: 1) chapters will no longer be broken up into 2 even parts, but instead, each part will remain roughly the same length as before, but broken up into more parts per chapter; 2) chapter numbers will no longer have a subpart after them, but will continue on (68, 69, 70, etc). Instead, the part numbers will be added after the title of each chapter. 3) any parts shorter than the original part length at the end of each chapter will be released as a little bonus part for the day. Meaning, at the end of each chapter, there will likely be an additional small part being released on the same day.

Searching the web can sometimes feel like yanking out potatoes from the ground... one is link to another and link to another and so on and so forth, as I was browsing and trying to identify the original source of the wagon bed, I came across this great example of just-because-you-can-doesn't-mean-you-should.

I search as much as I could but couldn't identify the original source of this picture. The lower right hand corner said arthritis treatment, so I am going to go out on a limb and guess that the origin of it might be a promotional photo for arthritis pain... but I don't know, the WWW (world wide web) can be like the WWW (wild, wild west), it shall continue to amaze...
